MM - Meerkat Mansion - was made on February 18, 2007.
There is no direct history of MM. It was created based off of the ideas present in Meerkat Manor and by the Cambridge University study.
This takes place in the Kalahari, and there is no specific background to the lands. Different characters have their own histories, and this is NOT a continuation of Meerkat Manor: it is completely different. A character may be modeled after one from Meerkat Manor, but it is not the same.
For example, my character Mozart is modeled after the Mozart on television. I used brief bits of her history and some of the same ideas, such as parent names, litters of kits, and siblings. However, I changed some things around, making it possible for her to have left.
Meerkats arriving on the scene each have their own unique past, and are more than likely not related to anyone on the scene [and I ask that if you do make a character related to someone else that you have their permission and that you notify me].
This is a realistic meerkat site, though a few slight exceptions are made, such as with rovers being able to live alone for a length of time, longer than most real life meerkats.
